Buffalo first to market with 320GB portable hard drive
22/11/2007
London, UK, 22 November 2007 – Buffalo Technology is the first company to launch a 320GB portable external hard drive (HD-PS320U2) to the market. Available from December, the MiniStation TurboUSB 5400rpm hard drive is aimed at users wanting to store large amounts of data on the move and benefits from Buffalo’s TurboUSB technology, which significantly speeds up file transfer rates and performance.
The MiniStation TurboUSB is a shock-resistant USB 2.0 portable hard drive, which delivers unrivalled protection. Buffalo’s TurboUSB technology boasts file transfer rates up to 64% faster than traditional 4200rpm USB hard drives, allowing for speedy, mobile performance. The entire MiniStation TurboUSB range is compatible with all Windows systems (2000, XP and Vista) and all Mac OS X, including the recently launched version Leopard.
The new version of the MiniStation also comes complete with a wrap-around cable for easy storage and comprises a tough armoured outer case and shock-absorbent internal design – based on a new and improved floating structure. With the ability to draw power from the PC it is connected to, it requires no external power supply providing a lightweight storage solution that is ideal for mobile users.
With "Plug-n-Play" USB capabilities, the MiniStation can connect to any USB 2.0 port on a desktop, laptop or Buffalo network attached storage device where the software is loaded. It also features Buffalo’s unique Secure Lock Ware (SLW) utility1, which offers drive and file encryption to protect data with up to 256bit AES Encryption technology. Data can be protected further using the multilingual Memeo AutoBackup software for Windows, which offers improved backup options, including scheduled backup and password protection, in a number of different languages.
Gerardine Lynch, Product Marketing Manager at Buffalo Technology, comments: "The 320GB version has been launched in response to consumer demand for fast, high capacity, portable storage devices and follows the successful launch of the enhanced MiniStation range in August. By bringing the product to market now, we stay one step ahead of our competitors and aim to gain market share in this area."
