Buffalo launches cost-effective NAS device for SOHO market
14/12/2007

London, UK, 14 December 2007 – Buffalo Technology today announced the latest addition to its LinkStation portfolio of Network Attached Storage (NAS) products. The LinkStation Pro Duo [LS-W1.0TGL/R1] is designed for small office and home users (SoHo) wanting a cost-effective, storage solution. The device offers a substantial 1TB storage capacity, with RAID 0 and RAID 1 functionality options for additional security and resilience. The two 500GB drives can also be accessed remotely by users when out of the office via any web browser.

The large storage size and compact design of the LinkStation Pro Duo make it ideal for the SoHo market as a main storage device. Backups can be made via a LAN connection to other Buffalo LinkStation devices and to external USB drives. For the SMB market, the LinkStation Pro Duo provides an additional storage or backup option, with easy integration into an existing network via Active Directory.

Buffalo’s Web Access feature allows users to instantly and securely access all digital files stored on the LinkStation Pro Duo, via an internet connection anywhere in the world. The free online service also allows remote workers across different departments in a networked office environment, or users in different geographic regions, to retrieve data from the device, quickly and easily.

Gerardine Lynch, Product Marketing Manager at Buffalo Technology, comments: “We have developed the LinkStation Pro Duo in response to growing demand for an affordable, high-capacity NAS storage solution, for the small business user. The RAID functionality offers the advantages of improved performance with RAID 0, and secure access and mirroring capabilities with RAID 1, making it ideal for both primary and backup storage needs.”

The LinkStation Pro Duo is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista; and supports Mac OS X and Apple Bonjour.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty, the 1TB LinkStation Pro Duo will be available immediately from Misco, Dabs.com, Insight, DSGi and Broadband Buyer at an estimated street price (ex VAT) of £215, with higher capacity versions planned for release in 2008.
